It sounds like we're going to talk about selling, books, or furniture, or a new cleaning product. Actually, what we're talking about marketing is YOU, the high school student-athlete.
First, ask your high school coach what level of college athletics you are most suited for, NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or Junior College. It's important to be honest and realistic about your talent and abilities. For instance, would you rather sit the bench for four years at an NCAA Division I school or play three years at a Division II school?
Next, you have to understand the odds you're up against. Typically, Division I schools will send out hundreds or even thousands of letters to prospective juniors in high school all across the country. But do you realize that they may only have a handful of scholarships to give out?
Don't be discouraged, we're going to show you how to increase your odds of getting one of those hard-to-get athletic scholarships. When it comes to marketing your student-athlete, you really have three options.
